clouds

It’s been a day of cloud talk, words, pictures…

wispy ribbon clouds….

and heartier ones that seem to speak of integrity…

Clouds that seem “meaty”…

I have likewise made many ‘skies’ and effects — for I wish it could be said of me as Fuselli says of Rembrandt, ‘he followed nature in her calmest abodes and could pluck a flower on every hedge — yet he was born to cast a steadfast eye on the bolder phenomena of nature’… We have had noble clouds & effects of light & dark & color.    – John Constable

Clouds appearing – disappearing…

you could walk, dance or even build a home, on them….

perhaps…

and then there were the threads…

of worded connection….

playing through our days and meeting…

in the central time zones of the space between us….

full of purple mountains…

…and majestic plains of wildflowers and buffalos

(esp. wildflowers & buffaloes.. memo to selves.. spatiality important.. vis á vis Central time zone.. space And time!! Yes!)

I know very well what I am about and that my skies have not been neglected, though they often failed in execution – and often no doubt from over anxiety about them…
– John Constable

Cloud Studies by John Constable

The world is wide; no two days are alike, nor even two hours; neither were there ever two leaves of a tree alike since the creation of the world.   – John Constable

You are the sum total of everything you’ve ever seen, heard, eaten, smelled, been told, forgot – it’s all there. Everything influences each of us, and because of that I try to make sure that my experiences are positive.                                        – Maya Angelou

I started a day writing a dream remembered at 4:30ish in the morning….

After a morning shower this came to me….

FOR LONGING

Blessed be the longing that brought you here

And quickens your soul with wonder.

May you have the courage to listen to the voice of desire

That disturbs you when you have settled for something safe.

May you have the wisdom to enter generously into

 your own unease

To discover the new direction your longing wants

 you to take.

May the forms of your belonging — in love, creativity

 and friendship —

Be equal to the grandeur and the call of your soul.

John O’Donohue

Excerpt from ‘TO BLESS THE SPACE BETWEEN US (US)

Words I would later share in response to a friend who mentioned…

the sense of the stretch to it, stretching, that to me has always been a metaphor for my longing….

there is so much beauty that happens in a day….in a week…

I will long remember this…

these gifts…

this beauty…

the unending, unlimited, bounty…

so I end this post…

we look at the same moon….

we breathe in and out…the same air..

the ribbons of clouds continue to move

in the cinema-sky…

ever changing…

and we continue too…

to change….

as we write new poetry…

new exquisite wordsheds built…

across the miles…

love letters written…

within our own particular hearts…

as well as…

all across the sky…

💕

It is a beauteous evening, calm and free,

The holy time is quiet as a nun

Breathless with adoration; the broad sun

Is sinking down in its tranquility;

The gentleness of heaven broods o’er the sea:

Listen! the mighty Being is awake,

And doth with his eternal motion make

A sound like thunder—everlastingly.

Dear Child! dear Girl! that walkest with me here,

If thou appear untouched by solemn thought,

Thy nature is not therefore less divine:

Thou liest in Abraham’s bosom all the year,

And worship’st at the Temple’s inner shrine,

God being with thee when we know it not.
